Founder/CEO

Hi, I’m Timm. I founded zipmend in 2015. Prior to that, I spent 10 years working as a consultant for logistics companies. I obtained my diploma in business administration at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. I am happy whenever we are able to help our customers in tricky situations. In my spare time, I like to watch basketball, jog and take care of my vodka collection.

Andrew Byrne

Head of Dispatch

Hello, my name is Andrew. I’m originally from the UK and have a bachelor’s degree in Germanic studies. I am a dispatcher out of passion and always have on ear on the phone – maybe we will talk to each other soon. In my free time, I take flying lessons and fly through the air on small-engined aircraft. My goal is to obtain a pilot’s license and later maybe my own small plane.

2016

Starting signal for zipmend

Launch in the start-up living room with three interns. The focus was on the price calculator and the online booking process. After a year, the software goes live and zipmend.com goes online.

2017

First office and expansions

First own office near Hamburg Central Station, expansion of the software to include an interface for transport partners and introduction of various vehicle categories.

2020

New location and technology upgrade

Move to the Afrikahaus and conversion of the front end to Vue.js. The team grows to 22 employees and the current business is prepared for the French and Benelux markets.

2022

Expansion and increased efficiency

In January, the office moves to the third floor of Afrikahaus and grows to 37 employees within a few months. We are working flat out to make zipmend one of the biggest digital players in the express delivery sector.

2025

Team Growth and New Currencies

In May, our team in Hamburg grows to over 50 employees – we now speak 15 different native languages. Another part of our team is based in Baku – where we’ve built a team of 7 developers. In April, we introduced additional currencies to online booking: British Pound, Polish Zloty, Czech Koruna, and Danish Krone.
