Fraud using the zipmend name – How to protect yourself

How the scam works

  • The eBay/Kleinanzeigen trick: You purchase an item (e.g. electronics, furniture, car parts). The seller claims to have already arranged transport via zipmend. You often receive forged confirmation emails or screenshots.
  • The fake payment link: The seller sends you a link to a supposed zipmend payment page to deposit transport costs or a security deposit.
  • The fake online shop: You order from a seemingly normal online shop. After payment, you are told that the goods will be delivered by zipmend, but the delivery is delayed — or additional money is demanded after the fact.
Important: Do not pay any money!
If you purchased something via a selling site such as eBay, Kleinanzeigen or an online shop, and the seller claims the goods will be delivered by zipmend, please read the following information carefully. It is very likely that someone is attempting to carry out transport fraud.
If you have received a payment request in our name from a third party, do not transfer any money.

Recognising freight fraud — Warning signs at a glance

Recognising online fraud is not always easy. Forged emails and websites now look deceptively authentic — scam tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated and are almost indistinguishable from genuine messages at first glance. This makes it all the more important to pay attention to the details.

Use the following points to check whether someone is misusing the zipmend name to defraud you:

Upfront payment to a private individual

If you are asked to pay transport costs in advance to a private account, or via crypto or Western Union, do not do so. zipmend will never ask you to do this and does not offer crypto or Western Union as a payment method.

Payment directly to zipmend

When a transport is booked with zipmend, payment is always made directly to zipmend. In Germany, we only offer the following payment methods:

  • Invoice
  • PayPal
  • Credit card
  • Giropay (Germany)
  • Instant bank transfer (Germany)
  • iDeal (Netherlands)
  • bancontact (France)
Email domain is not @zipmend.com

If you receive a payment request from an email address whose domain is not @zipmend.com, it did not come from us. Typical fake addresses include:

  • zipmend@gmail.com
  • zipmend.transport@gmail.com
  • zipmend@transport.com

Important! Pay attention not only to the name but also to small spelling errors in the email address that are not immediately obvious — e.g. @zippmend.com or @zipment.com. Fraudsters use this trick deliberately.

Email domain is @zipmend.com

All emails you receive from us always come from an email address with the domain @zipmend.com. As a rule, emails will always come from mail@zipmend.com, but depending on the matter, the following addresses may also appear as senders:

  • invoice@zipmend.com
  • carrier@zipmend.com

You can also check the email address directly using our checker.

Links to other websites

If you receive links to websites other than zipmend.com, they did not come from us.

URLs such as zipmend-transport.com or zipmend-delivery.de do not belong to us.

Links to zipmend.com

Genuine website links from zipmend always take you to the following domains or sub-domains:

If needed, you can also use our URL check.

Communication via messenger

If the seller tries to move communication regarding transport and payment to other channels such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook or similar, you are likely the target of a scam.

Communication by phone or email

If you book a transport with zipmend or receive goods via zipmend, communication takes place either by email (mail@zipmend.com) or by phone.

Pressure and threats

If the seller puts pressure on you or even makes threats such as "Pay within 24 hours or the goods will be returned", this is a scam.

Professional communication

We always communicate professionally. What we never do is apply pressure or threaten to collect and return goods.

Unknown shipment number

If you receive a shipment number that can be tracked on a website not affiliated with zipmend, it is not a genuine zipmend order number.

If possible, check the link before opening it. If it leads to a website whose domain does not contain one of the zipmend domains listed above, do not open it.

zipmend order number

If a transport has been booked via zipmend, the order status can be checked using the zipmend order number. If you are unsure whether it is a genuine order number, use our order number check or contact us by email or phone — we will verify it for you.

What can you do now?

Cut off contact

Do not reply to the seller any further, even if they put pressure on you. Do not click on any links in the chat and under no circumstances share any further personal data.

Report the user

Report the seller’s profile using the reporting function of the site where the transaction took place (eBay, Kleinanzeigen etc.).

Contact your bank

If you have already made a payment, ask your bank or payment provider whether the money can be reversed.

Secure evidence

Save all chat histories, emails, screenshots and payment receipts. Note down the seller’s name and the site used.

File a report

In the case of fraud, contact the police directly. Hand over all secured evidence to the police — they will handle the internet fraud case.

Inform the site

Report the seller using the reporting function of the site where they are active. This helps protect other users from the same internet fraud.

Frequently asked questions

What is zipmend?
zipmend is an express courier service based in Hamburg. Our services are aimed at business customers (B2B) who ship palletised commercial goods, components or machine parts. We are not a standard parcel service like DHL, Hermes or DPD, which are used for private eBay purchases.
I have received a shipment number. Is it genuine?
If you received the number from a private seller on an auction site, it is most likely forged.
Can zipmend get my money back?
No, unfortunately not. As we are not the contractual partner of the fraudster, we have no access to the payment flows. Please contact your bank and the police directly.
Why do fraudsters misuse the zipmend name?
zipmend stands for fast and reliable transport. Fraudsters use our name so that you believe the goods are already safely on their way to you, in order to pressure you into paying.
How do I recognise the genuine zipmend website?
The only official website is zipmend.com along with its sub-domains app.zipmend.com and jobs.zipmend.com. Pay attention to the exact domain — fraudsters use similar addresses such as zipmend-transport.com or zipmend-delivery.de.
Which payment methods does zipmend actually use?
In Great Britain, zipmend accepts payment by invoice, PayPal, credit card, Giropay or instant bank transfer. We never request payments to private accounts, via cryptocurrency or through Western Union.
Frequently asked questions about fraud involving zipmend

Is zipmend legitimate?

Yes. zipmend is a legitimate, registered courier and freight forwarding company, founded in 2015 by Timm Trede in Hamburg. The fact that fraudsters misuse our name has nothing to do with our services — on the contrary: we are targeted precisely because zipmend is known as a trustworthy brand and is now established across Europe. With over 40,000 vehicles in our network, we carry out transports in 28 European countries day after day.

Over recent years, our team has grown to approximately 70 employees and we can conduct customer communication in 15 different native languages. Our service speaks for itself with more than 1,400 Google reviews and an overall rating of 4.9 stars.
